2020/3/16 · What this does is to decrease the watt density, significantly reducing the potential for scorching washes that haven't been thoroughly "cleared" before running. Incidentally, my keg boiler has two 4.5kW/240VAC elements that I power with 120VAC providing roughly 1.1kW each at full power and I have run cloudy all grain beers without even a hint of scorch.
